With sports betting on hold due to the Coronavirus, it seems the need to have a punt has turned many from the TAB to the ASX. With the share price of some of Australia&#8217;s leading companies at record lows, amateur investors are looking to ride the expected wave of recovery once everything re-opens.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad60716 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ad60716\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/asic.gov.au\/about-asic\/news-centre\/find-a-media-release\/2020-releases\/20-102mr-retail-investors-at-risk-in-volatile-markets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Securities and Investments Commission<\/a> (ASIC), from the end of February to the beginning of May nearly 4,700 new share trading accounts were opened. This is over 3 times the normal amount.
